We get a lot of call of our customers asking what EDID is.
The definition of EDID is Extended Display Identification Data.
What we explain to our customers is EDID is a small chip that is inside certain electronics, and tells other devices what the audio/video capabilities are, TV aspect ratio, native resolution, supported resolutions and supported audio.
When a/v components connect to each other, basically the devices talk to each other and make sure the the audio and video are supported.
